What are you worried about? What is stressing you out? What is causing you to lose sleep? What makes you constantly stare into space and lose focus? What is it that makes your heart beat faster? Whatever it is, I am sure that it is nothing God cannot fix or solve.
As human beings, there is a natural tendency to worry about tomorrow, what the future holds and how our lives will turn out, but if we think about it deeply, is worrying about all these things really worth it? Worrying is a useless and unproductive activity to engage in. It adds no value and worrying in itself does not improve the situation you are worrying about. Matthew 6:27 says “Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?” Someone described worrying like this and I think it’s a perfect description, “worrying is like sitting in a rocking chair, you exert so much energy doing it, but it does not produce any result.”
I would be lying if I told you that I am never worried or go into deep thoughts about my future. We all have different things we are worried about, the devil knows this and he makes us worry about it more by making the issue look bigger than it really is. He makes us feel like what we are trusting God for is impossible and cannot be done, and this makes us worry even more. These are all lies and tricks from the devil. Lately, I have been immersing myself in God’s greatness and reminding myself about how powerful God is through songs and studying the word. This has put me in a state where I am convinced beyond doubt that God can truly do all things. I strongly recommend it for you too. If God created the entire universe in just 6 days and raised Jesus up on the 3rd day after he was flogged 39 painful stripes, tell me, what is money, a car, a house, a job, marriage, children or whatever is peculiar to you? God is the same God then and the same God now, He is just as faithful now as He was over 2,000 years ago. Never let the devil trick you into believing that your issues are too big or too many and God is incapable of solving them.
Can I tell you something you already know? Worrying never ends. There will always be something to worry about. For example, you worry about gaining admission into university today, then you spend the next 4-5 years worrying about graduating with good grades, after that, you start to worry about a good job, then marriage, then children, then life after retirement and so on. It’s a never-ending vicious cycle that adds no value.
God is telling you today that you are too valuable to engage in a valueless activity like worrying. Matthew 6:28-30 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? If God cares about flowers, how much more you? The apple of His eye, the one He is jealous of and the one that He loved so dearly, He sent His only begotten son to die for. Can you see that worrying only stems from a lack of faith and a poor knowledge of how valuable you are and how much you mean to God. So, allow me to remind you that you matter to God, and He is all for your peace, purpose, and prosperity in life.
Anxiety and peace cannot co-exist in the same heart, one has to give way for the other. Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT) “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Evict anxiety from your heart today and let peace reign. It is only when you choose not to worry that you will experience inexplicable peace, peace that makes you stay calm in the midst of chaos and fills your heart with joy unspeakable on sad days.
The creation cannot think for the creator, so stop thinking and calculating for God. God is your creator and if you have given your life to Him your life is now His. Stop worrying about things you have no control over, if you have no control over it, just turn it over to the one who has control over everything. He has beautiful plans for your life, and he will make everything happen how he wants it and when he wants it.
Why worry when you can pray? Philippians 4:6 (NLT) “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done”. There you have it, the antidote to worrying- prayer and thanksgiving. Going forward and starting today, I want you to choose prayer and thanksgiving over worry, that your heart may always be filled with peace.
1 Peter 5:6-7 (KJV) “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you”. God cares for you, He always has and He always will. Never doubt this.
I leave you with the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:25-34 (NKJV).
I’m always rooting for you! You’ve got this ‘cause God’s got you!
